Abbey

It was decided that Abbey should leave his family on Robert Brother Circus to pursue his hope of becoming a proper clown and so he joined Fossett Brothers Circus touring Wales on one and two day stands. Also on this tour was a great clown called Eddy Orry whom Abbey held in great esteem. Whilst working under Mr Orry, Abbey found ‘making people laugh’ was addictive. An addiction for which there is no cure. He was just 16.

Some years had passed when Abbey returned to his family as part of a clown troupe, his brother in law, Al Verlain being principle clown. Also in the troupe was a clown called Teddy Green, a very talented clown and a master of solo clown routines.

Teabags

Teabags literally ran away to join the circus. A young circus performer caught her eye. They were married and contracted to Duffy Brothers circus in the Irish Republic for one season, they stayed for four. The Irish have a wonderful humour.

Many years have passed since Fossett Brothers circus. Abbey and Teabags left their circus life and began a company of clowns called ‘Clowning Around’ which celebrated its 20th year in November 2008. What wonderful years they have been.
